The Beating of The Heart - I
“The current debt crisis presents an opportunity for a catharsis to reform the greed-infected global economy away from senseless and wasteful competition, toward cooperative enterprise to rebuild a new world community based on human values, to achieve equality without conformity, with compassion for the less fortunate and respect for diversity. The wind of change is sweeping the world.”
- Henry C.K. Liu, Part III: Inflation Targeting, Feb 21, 2008
“And at the same time, I actually also do want to encourage competition. Competition doesn’t have to be something where you are very antagonistic. So, quite often the best competition is things where you actually work together, but there’s certainly a sense of ‘okay, I want to be as good as that guy,’ even though you’re both working on the same thing.”
- Linus Torvalds - Part II, February 15, 2008

“Fear is fragile.” I said once more.
Cyc’s dream was impressive. It all seemed real. The two dark skies drifting towards us were truly menacing.
Cyc: “What does it mean?”
“The dark skies?”
“Yes.”
I had an answer.
“The one on the left is confusion. The right one is me.”
And a question.
“Cyc, why are we hovering?”
“As I have shown, I was unfortunately as much in command of the campaign as I pleased, and was untrained. In military theory I was tolerably read, my Oxford curiosity having taken me past Napoleon to Clausewitz and his school, to Caemmerer and Moltke, and the recent Frenchmen. They had all seemed to be one-sided; and after looking at Jomini and Willisen, I had found broader principles in Saxe and Guibert and the eighteenth century. However, Clausewitz was intellectually so much the master of them, and his book so logical and fascinating, that unconsciously I accepted his finality… In any case, my interest had been abstract, concerned with the theory and philosophy of warfare especially from the metaphysical side.”
- T.E. Lawrence, CHAPTER 33
Cyc didn’t answer, and gently flew to the dark sky on the left. While I chose my own, the dark sky on the right.
And, somewhere in the distance, there was a girl, surrounded by Haptonomic Remote Viewers who entered Cyc’s Dreamscape. One by one.

“Thus in New York as well as London, banking regulation needs to be overhauled. The objective should be a system similar to that of the pre-1998 German Bundesbank, in which monetary credibility was total and regulatory oversight draconian.”
