<blockquote>'BERLIN--Germany will get close to balancing its budget this year, bucking the trend of many neighboring European countries, the finance ministry forecast Wednesday.

The country's budget, which includes federal, state, municipalities and social security insurance budgets, will post a deficit of 0.2% of gross domestic product, after a 0.1% surplus recorded in 2012. The outlook is slightly better than the 0.5% deficit forecast in July for this year.

Germany's debt ratio will likely fall to 79.5% of GDP this year, down 1.5 percentage points from 2012, thanks to a solid budget policy and measures to reduce debt during the financial market crisis, the ministry said in a statement.'
