<blockquote>'..Russia’s aggression in eastern Ukraine grinds on. In blatant violation of a Feb. 15 cease-fire agreement, artillery, tanks and heavy mortars fire on Ukrainian army positions on a daily basis. Since last Saturday, nine government soldiers have been killed. The latest report of an international monitoring mission, released Wednesday, described “a general increase in the number of ceasefire violations.” The West’s non-response only makes it more likely that the offensive will escalate.

The cease-fire deal required Russian-backed forces to withdraw artillery, tanks and other heavy weapons from the front lines and place them under monitoring by inspectors of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Instead, many of those weapons are used in the daily shellings, while Russia sends still more across the border. “We continue to see disturbing elements of air defense, command and control, resupply equipment coming across a completely porous border,” NATO supreme commander Gen. Philip Breedlove said late last month.

..

..At a minimum, [Wesley Clark] said, the United States should pre-position equipment and announce that it would be delivered immediately in the event of a new offensive.

As it stands, Ukrainian forces could use the materiel now to save the lives of soldiers being picked off by incessant Russian shelling. Yet President Obama continues to overrule senior officials who support arms deliveries; like European Union leaders, he is ignoring the brazen cease-fire violations. U.S. and European officials say they will act if Russia actually attacks Mariupol. By remaining passive now, they make that offensive more likely.'

'Ukraine had more nukes than China, England and France combined .. If these warheads were now five hundred miles away from Moscow, Putin wouldn't be so arrogant.'

<blockquote>'You have to be prepared to take up weapons when dealing with Putin. Don't try to buy peace with weakness .. In 1994 the Ukrainian government, under pressure from the Americans agreed to five up [their] nuclear weapons, the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world. Ukraine had more nukes than China, England and France combined. Twelve hundred nuclear warheads. If these warheads were now five hundred miles away from Moscow, Putin wouldn't be so arrogant.'

'..the West should confront Russian President Vladimir Putin with its own arsenal of nuclear weapons to curb what [Lech Walesa] called Russian aggression.'

<blockquote>'Former Polish President Lech Walesa told a Ukrainian magazine that the West should confront Russian President Vladimir Putin with its own arsenal of nuclear weapons to curb what he called Russian aggression. Much like other Polish politicians, Walesa has spoken out against Russia numerous times since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis last year.

The West must do everything possible to curb Russian aggression, including “sending in nuclear missiles,” said Walesa. “It’s important to show we have them, and that they are better than Russia’s.” Walesa, who started his political career as an anti-communist trade union activist in the 1970s, was fundamental in seeing Poland’s transition from a communist state to the Republic of Poland during his five years as president from 1990 to 1995. He was persecuted by Poland’s communist government during his early years in politics.

Poland and its neighbors in the Baltics -- Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania -- have strongly criticized Russia’s annexation of Crimea last year and for allegedly intervening in the Ukrainian conflict on behalf of pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine..'

“And now Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler.”

- Prince Charles

'After meeting Charles, Mrs Ferguson, 78, said: “The Prince said, 'and now Putin is doing just about the same as Hitler'.

“I must say that I agree with him and am sure a lot of people do.

“But I was very surprised that he made the comment as I know they (members of the Royal Family) aren't meant to say these things.'
