<blockquote>'Swiss Federal Police launched a clarification process for Microsoft’s Windows 10. “If necessary, we will issue a recommendation,” said Jean-Philippe Walter, Federal Commissioner for data protection and transparency.

“If necessary, we will go to Federal Court,” he said in an interview published Monday by the Swiss newspaper Le Temps. “We are losing more and more of our freedom everyday. If we do not respond, it may one day be too late. Without a concrete response, some analysts expect the end of privacy in the next twenty years,” Mr Walter said.

Ten days ago, the Swiss Pirate Party (PPS) had called on the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection to act against the violation of privacy committed by Microsoft. The Pirate party — known for its defense of personal privacy — demanded the examination of several issues relating to Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system.

Recently, it has been found that Windows 10 does in fact communicate with Microsoft’s servers even when the settings have been changed by the user. Although the information shared do not contain personal data like names, gender, age and location, many still see them as a breach of personal privacy.

Thus, the PPS wants a clear statement from Microsoft, detailing the the nature of the data collected, their recipients, their storage location and the duration of their retention.

“If Microsoft does not review its privacy policy, Windows 10 could be the subject of a recommendation prohibiting its purchase,” posted on his twitter account the Federal Commissioner.'
